SWANs are delighted that our founder Dr Catriona Stewart was awarded an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the New Year’s Honours list for her outstanding contribution to autistic women and girls.
Catriona has worked tirelessly since completing her PhD to build the network for autistic women in Scotland, although SWAN’s reach goes much further than that. She also works closely with Scottish Autism.
Have a listen to the podcast on the Central FM to hear Catriona speak about what the award means to her and to us all who are part of the Network.
There is also a lovely article in the Alloa & Hillfoots Advertiser where Catriona says “It feels very much like a collective honour.”
For those of us who know how hard she works and how dedicated she is to improve understanding of autistic women and girls this is a very important recognition of Catriona’s work and the importance of SWAN to autistic women.
Congratulations!
