SWAN and Paths for All work together to  unveil a Toolkit, podcast and Inclusive Health Walks

In collaboration, SWAN and Paths for All have announced the launch of three transformative initiatives aimed at promoting inclusivity, empowerment, and physical activity within the autism community across Scotland.

"Step by Step: Creating Autism-Inclusive Health Walks" Toolkit

In partnership with SWAN, Paths for All has introduced the "Step by Step: Creating Autism-Inclusive Health Walks" toolkit. Developed with input from SWAN, this toolkit equips Health Walk leaders across Scotland with the necessary tools and knowledge to ensure that health walks are accessible for autistic people.

The toolkit, now available, serves as a valuable resource in breaking down barriers and fostering inclusivity in physical activity.

SWAN Health Walks Across Scotland

Alongside the toolkit SWAN is thrilled to announce the initiation of SWAN Health Walks across the country.

With 11 trained autistic volunteer Health Walk Leaders, the SWAN walks offer a supportive and inclusive environment for autistic women and non-binary people. Beyond improving physical wellbeing, these walks provide an opportunity for socialisation and peer support.

Initial walks are scheduled in Glasgow and Stirling from April, with more locations to follow.

Voices of the Walk Podcast: Featuring Mandy Williams

To celebrate the toolkit and the start of the SWAN Health Walks, our Volunteer Coordinator, Mandy Williams, was recently interviewed by Valerie from the Paths for All Health Walks team.

On the opening episode of Voices of the Walk podcast series, Mandy discusses the challenges faced by autistic people in accessing opportunities for physical activity, along with her own experiences in sport and the benefits of the SWAN walk groups.

Reflecting on all this amazing news, Mandy commented:

"Through the Voices of the Walk podcast, the comprehensive toolkit, and the initiation of SWAN Health Walks, we aim to make taking part in physical activity more accessible to all ."
