SWAN Volunteer Coordinator Mandy Williams wins gold and sets a new Scottish powerlifting record!

SWAN's very own Volunteer Coordinator Mandy Williams competed in the British National Masters Powerlifting championships end of June in London - where she won gold in the M2 47kg class, broke her own Scottish record in bench press and set a new Scottish record!

Powerlifting is 3 lifts - bench press, squat and deadlift.

At a body weight of 45.3kg and aged 50 years old Mandy deadlifted 110kg, squatted 67.5kg and bench pressed 50kg - after only 10 months training in the sport!

As a result, Mandy has been invited to compete at the World powerlifting championship in South Africa later this year representing Great Britain.

In a completive field where there are so few openly autistic athletes, we are incredibly proud of Mandy who is out there showing the world the power(lift!) of autistic focus and joy!!!
