SWAN Volunteer Coordinator, Mandy Williams, talks to the Health and Social Care Alliance in their latest "Alliance Live Self Management Fund Project Insights" video about how she's designed an autistic-led volunteering programme at SWAN.
Listen to our #ActuallyAutistic Volunteer Coordinator, Mandy Williams, talking about how she makes sure the volunteering experience at SWAN is designed for and by the amazing team of autistic volunteers at the heart of our SWAN community.
SWAN was awarded a Self-Management fund grant from The Alliance (the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland) in 2021, to empower autistic women to understand themselves better and access appropriate information, services and support.
As part of this work, we have recruited and trained autistic volunteers to respond to enquiries, produce resources, create social media posts and facilitate local meet-up groups.
Mandy works with each volunteer to identify the best role for them and makes sure the whole process from recruitment, to training and ongoing support is stress free, rewarding and fun!
