SWAN Autism (Scotland) is proud to be one of the first organisations supported by the brand new Walking for Health Fund.

This support will allow us to expand our successful Wellbeing Walks, train more autistic volunteer walk leaders, and create new opportunities across Scotland.

We are so grateful for this support, which will allow us to expand our successful Wellbeing Walks and train more autistic volunteer walk leaders.

Since starting over a year ago, our Wellbeing Walks have gone from strength to strength. They have given autistic women and non-binary people welcoming spaces to connect, enjoy the outdoors, and experience the many benefits that walking can bring. For many, these walks have offered more than exercise — they have become a source of friendship, belonging, and confidence.

Participants have told us how much the groups have meant to them: reducing feelings of isolation, improving mental health, and creating lasting connections in a way that feels safe and supportive. What began as a simple idea has become a vital part of SWAN’s community life.

Thanks to the support of Walking Scotland's new Walking for Health Fund, we now have the opportunity to build on this success. Over the coming months, SWAN will be training more volunteer walk leaders and expanding our Wellbeing Walks so that even more autistic women and non-binary people can take part.

This is an exciting step forward for SWAN — and we can’t wait to share what comes next.

Watch this space for new SWAN Wellbeing Walks launching across Scotland over the coming year!
